Very long-matured Aleppo soap is often described as finer and less loud. Laurel can still be present, but more as a dry herbal or resinous note. Some bars seem almost „powdery“ or reminiscent of dry wood. The reason: some of the volatile aroma components have either evaporated or been chemically transformed over time. At the same time the soap is harder, and the scent sits more „in the material“: it is activated on wetting but more RESTrained when dry.

Important: More maturation time does not automatically make the scent „better.“ It generally makes it different and often more stable. Those who love the fresh, green laurel top notes will prefer shorter maturation. Those who prefer mild and quiet will gravitate toward longer-matured bars.
